** Virus Alert: Goner / Hi **

W32.Goner.A@mm is a mass-mailing worm that is written in Visual Basic. The worm has been compressed using a known Portable Executable (PE)* file compressor. The worm can spread its infection using the ICQ network as well as by email using Microsoft Outlook. If IRC is installed, this worm can also insert mIRC scripts that will enable the computer to be used in Denial of Service (DOS) attacks.
The subject header on the email will be "Hi" and will most likely come from an email address that you know.  If anyone sends you an email with the subject of "Hi", please delete it immediately.  You may want to let your friends know to not send you an actual email with the subject as "Hi."

If you are infected with this virus, you can download fixgoner.exe from here and it should delete the virus.  (Please right mouse click the link and choose the "Save Target As" option in order to download this file to your PC.  The file is zipped, as some people were trying to run the file over the Internet.  If you do not have WinZip on your PC, you can download it from www.winzip.com.  After you have unzipped the file, open your My Computer on your desktop, find the file where you saved it on your hard drive and double click it to run.)   If you are not infected, M & M Programming, Inc. recommends that you run this file anyway.

If  you have been infected it will email itself to every email address it can find on your computer.
