Paper Jams
My paper keeps getting stuck in my printer. What's causing this?
There are several things to look for:
First off, is the weight of the paper too much for your printer? If you are trying to use card stock or another thick paper in the printer, the trouble could be there. Some printers just aren't made for those thick papers.
Is there something stuck in your printer. Open the panel on the printer that you usually open to change the ink or toner cartridges. Inspect the area carefully to see if there is anything obstructing the path of the paper. Sometimes, labels will adhere to rollers or a previous paper jam will cause problems.
Is the printer dirty? Office supply stores sell "canned air" which can be used to blow out the area around the rollers. Try cleaning the area out.
Does the printer take in more than one piece of paper at a time? If this is the case, then something could be wrong with your intake roller.
Does the printer seem to have a problem expelling the paper from the printer? If this is the case, it could be the output roller.
Does your printer use paper trays? Sometimes the paper tray becomes damaged and doesn't stop more than one piece of paper from being picked up at once.
Is there an envelope in the envelope feed area? Sometimes a smaller envelope will become lodged in the intake area.
Is there a grinding noise while the printer is printing? One of the gears could be damaged.
