Shortcuts?

I have a friend who never uses the menus in MS Word or Excel.  How does she do that?

She must be using "shortcuts".  These are keyboard shortcuts which have been pre-programmed into these software packages.  The following are just a few:

Opening Menus:
Alt + F =  File Menu
Alt + E =  Edit Menu
Alt + V = View Menu
Alt + I  =  Insert Menu
Alt + O = Format Menu
Alt + T  =  Tools Menu
Alt + A =  Table Menu (Word Only)
Alt + D =  Data Menu (Excel Only)
Alt + W = Window Menu
Alt + H  = Help Menu

Formatting Shortcuts:

Ctrl + B  =  Bold
Ctrl + I   =  Italics
Ctrl + U  =  Underline
Ctrl + C  =  Copy
Ctrl + V  =  Paste
Ctrl + X  =  Cut
Ctrl + S  =  Save
Ctrl + P  =  Print
Ctrl + 1  =  Format Cell (Excel Only)
Ctrl + F  =  Find
Ctrl + H  =  Replace
Ctrl + G  =   Goto
Ctrl + A  =  Select All (Word Only)
Ctrl + Z  =  Undo Last Action
Ctrl + Y  =  Repeat Last Action

These will keep you from going to the menus as frequently.  Don't forget, you can usually right-click your mouse to bring up a menu instead of using those at the top.
