Removing Programs
Removing programs from your PC doesn't consist of just deleting the "filename.exe" or the folder where the program is located. Doing that may cause more problems than you bargained for. Follow these easy steps and you can get rid of those pesky programs:
Click on the "Start" button.
Select the "Settings" option on the Start Bar.
Under "Settings", select "Control Panel."
When the "Control Panel" open, double click on the "Add/Remove Programs" option.
In this screen, you will see a list of 90% of the programs on your computer. Locate the program you would like to delete, highlight it with your mouse and click "Add/Remove."
This will open a Wizard that will walk you through the deletion of your program and all files associated with that program. (Note: Some programs use shared files. If the computer prompts you to delete any of these shared files, you have the option of selection "Yes", "Yes to All", "No" or "No to All." Most times, you can select the "Yes to All" button, but if the program is a Microsoft product or other software manufacturer that has multiple installs on your machine, select "No to All.")
If the program is not located in this screen, never fear. Close the Add/Remove window.
Under the "Start" button, select "Programs."
Under the "Programs" option, select "Windows Explorer".
Locate the folder the program is in. (Note: When the program was installed, it should have prompted you to choose a folder in which to install the program. This is the folder you want to select. Some programs will have created a folder with the program or the manufacturer's name.)
Select this folder and delete it.
If you are cleaning up your hard drive and remove several programs, run Scandisk and Defrag after the deletion. This will help improve your computer's performance.
